KEEPING MEXICAN CUISINE AUTHENTIC
After Mr Hector Portillo opened Marrietas Restaurant in San Diego in 1992, the restaurant became an instant success. The signature dishes were becoming so popular that Mr Portillo decided to open Mariachis Authentic Mexican Restaurant in 2006 in the town of Lihue. His menu inspiration came from different states in Mexico with specialties that appeal to a diverse clientele. The signature recipes came from his grandmothers passion to cook authentic mexican cuisine in the state of Guerrero Mexico.The restaurant was received so well by the community of Kauai that Mr Portillo decided to open a second location in the Heart of Historic Kapa’a Town.
This area was in need of a warm and friendly place with excellent food.
For over a decade, Mariachis has served the Kauai Community with great success. The combination of flavors and the great mexican ambiance is what makes Mariachis a very special Authentic Mexican Restaurant.

Talented and experienced chef, Born in Mexico, Chef Meno was raised in a family that loved cooking traditional and tasty food. When he was a child, his family moved to the United States, and he developed a passion for cooking by watching, helping, and learning alongside his mother. Every plate that he mades comes with a lot of love and aloha.
JUAN
CHEF DE CUISINE
Juan was originally hired as a line cook at Mariachis Lihue and, in the space of only a few years, advanced first to Sous Chef and then, in 2007, was promoted to become Chef of Mariachis. Doubtless he has a gift when it comes to cooking, bringing a sense of authentic and hand crafted food!

PASTRY CHEF
Elmer is our original Mexican-dessert maker, his pastries and cakes have become very popular in town. We know that after a tasty meal, the best way to finish is with a sweet piece of cheesecake.
